Frequently Asked Questions
What is UroFill®?
UroFill® is a patented, non-surgical penile girth enhancement technique that uses hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers. Developed by urologists, UroFill® offers a safe and effective way to increase penile circumference and enhance flaccid penile length without the risks associated with procedures developed by non-urological surgeons. These other procedures, often marketed to men experiencing small penis anxiety, low self-esteem, or Penile Dysmorphic Disorder (PDD), are typically performed by individuals who, while legally allowed to inject hyaluronic acid, lack the surgical qualifications and nuanced urological expertise necessary for safe treatment. Without the advanced anatomical knowledge, clinical and operative experience gained through specialised urological training overseen by USANZ, and admission to to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, these providers risk serious complications. Many of these complications, including penile deformity, erectile dysfunction, and deep tissue infections, often require corrective surgery by urologists. Unfortunately, it is often impossible to fully restore the damage, and the penis may never regain its original appearance or function. The motivation for developing UroFill® 15 years ago stemmed from the growing number of complications associated with these non-standardised and unregulated penile enlargement procedures. Backed by 10 years of prospectively collected data, UroFill® offers the safest and most effective, evidence-based, penile enlargement technique. Now, a series of simple, office-based injections can provide almost any penile girth a man may desire. The injections are done under local anesthesia and the patient can return to work immediately after the procedure (without restrictions). In our clinical studies, most patients resumed sexual intercourse after 72 hours.
Who are the right candidates for UroFill®?
The UroFill® technique offers both cosmetic and functional advantages, making it ideal for men seeking subtle enhancement or addressing minor concerns about their penis size. However, it is crucial for candidates to have realistic expectations. Men with psychological conditions such as penile dysmorphic disorder (PDD) are typically not suitable for this procedure, as these issues are better addressed with psychiatric intervention as the first line of treatment. For more detailed information on who can benefit from UroFill®, continue reading here. For more on the possible functional solutions for men with urological conditions, like erectile dysfunction and Peyronie's disease, continue reading here.
How much girth can I add using UroFill®?
The UroFill® girth enhancement technique allows for a tailored approach to increasing penile girth based on the patient's goals and it can be used to add nearly as much girth as the patient desires. While the capacity of tissue naturally limits potential expansion, the patented UroFill® method leverages incremental tissue expansion, a process that enhances your tissue's ability to accommodate greater girth over time. In more detail, it does this by optimising the viscoelastic properties of your superficial fascia and increasing natural tissue availability through biological stretch and a process called 'creep'. This method dramatically increases the potential limit for girth increase by enlarging your own penile tissue on a cellular level. The key to this approach is that it enhances the capacity of your native tissue, pushing the boundaries of what is possible with other techniques. This innovative approach not only ensures that the expansion is safe but also maintains the quality and integrity of your natural tissue, ensuring long-lasting, natural results. Realistic goals should be discussed with your UroFill provider. When following the patented protocol of staged injections, you may continue treatments until the desired girth is accomplished.
How much girth do I get with each session?
Because penises vary in length, the increase in girth after each round of injections using the UroFill® technique varies. Most patients experience an increase of about 0.6 to 1.3 cm in girth per session, with each staged injection of 2 to 6 units (cc's) of hyaluronic acid. This patented staging process means that the ultimate size and your desired goal, is completely up to you (and any relevant others in your life)!
Can UroFill® lengthen my penis?
While UroFill® does not directly increase the length of your erectile bodies, it significantly enhances your flaccid length, making you "hang longer," and transforming "growers" into "showers." The added weight of your penis post-procedure helps reduce the natural retraction of the erectile bodies and surrounding tissues, leading to a longer flaccid appearance. For optimal results, it's important to consult with your UroFill® provider about strategies to optimize overall penile health, which may naturally promote minor increases in erectile tissue length over time. However, it’s crucial to understand that while the flaccid state may appear longer, your erect length remains unchanged.
Many cosmetic procedure providers market their treatments with claims of increasing erect length—but the truth is, no non-surgical technique can achieve genuine lengthening of the penis in an erect state. The only proven way to increase erect length is through the placement of a penile implant and altering the tunica albuginea, the tough fibrous layer that surrounds the erectile bodies. This is a highly specialized and complex procedure that can only be performed by urologists trained in advanced surgical techniques.
Can UroFill® be used to make the head of the penis larger?
Yes. However, due to the the vascularity of that part of the penis, the filler will likely only last about 3-4 months in that area. By contrast, UroFill® can last for years in the shaft.
How does the UroFill® procedure work?
The treatment involves a patented and proven procedure for injecting a propriety hyaluronic acid filler into key areas of the penis. The approach makes use of a technique that was designed to complement the internal structures of the penis such that the results are smooth and natural. The procedure involves numbing the penis with anesthetic and then a medical professional performs a series of 4 to 6 injections of filler per session. The entire process takes about 15 minutes on average and you can return to work immediately after. See our page about the UroFill® procedure here.
What does UroFill® cost?
See our page about costs and HA treatment plans here.
Is the UroFill® procedure safe?
Yes, UroFill® is a safe, urologist-patented technique with over 10 years of clinical data. It is exclusively performed by hand-selected, board-certified urologists who have advanced specialisation in penile implant surgery and andrology. The procedure is designed this way not to limit accessibility but to prioritise patient outcomes, ensuring the highest level of patient safety and satisfaction.
Consistently, our studies have shown that UroFill® has a minimal risk profile. In our most recent study of 563 men, less than 5% of patients experiencing mild, localised infections, all of which fully treatable with antibiotics. Notably, all of these men also tried out their new penis before the advised 72-hour period. In over a decade of data, there have been no recorded instances of penile deformity, erectile dysfunction, corrective surgery, surgical drainage of infections, surgical removal of hyaluronic acid, loss of sensation, or granuloma formation, highlighting the procedure’s safety and reliability. Despite the excellent safety profile, all patients should read and sign
Is UroFill® permanent?
UroFill® provides long-lasting results. Clinical studies show a 93% retention rate of hyaluronic acid at 2 years, with many patients enjoying the benefits for even longer. Touch-up sessions may be performed to maintain or enhance results over time but require significantly less hyaluronic acid than the initial treatment protocol. You should RUN from anything that says "permanent". These techniques can be permanently bad.
Is there any loss of girth after the injections.
It is not uncommon to have an approximately 10% reduction in perceived initial gains in the first month. This is not because of dissipation of the hyaluronic acid, rather the reabsorption of the local anaesthetic used during the procedure and resolution of any inflammation from the injection process. Further loss is minimal and our current clinical data supports 93% retention rate at 2 years.
For men who are considered 'growers,' it is not uncommon to experience a temporary shifting of the hyaluronic acid filler during the initial stages of the UroFill® process. This happens due to the natural fluctuations in flaccid penile length, which can lead to the filler adjusting slightly before it stabilises. By the end of the treatment process, these concerns are resolved, and 'growers' typically transition to 'show-ers,' with the penis maintaining a fuller appearance even in its flaccid state. This means you will not face this issue long-term once the treatment is complete and the filler settles properly.
How long does the procedure take?
UroFill® is performed in-office and the procedure itself typically takes less than 15 minutes.
Does the UroFill® procedure hurt?
The UroFill® procedure is generally painless, as it is performed under local anesthesia.
What is the recovery time after UroFill®?
There is little to no downtime with UroFill®. Most patients can return to their regular daily activities - either returning to work or travelling back home. However, it is recommended to avoid sexual activity for at least 72 hours to ensure proper healing. Your UroFill® provider will discuss the specific instructions after your procedure.
What are the side effects of UroFill®?
The most common side effects are mild swelling, bruising, and temporary soreness. These side effects typically resolve within a few days without need for pain medication. Paracetamol and ibuprofen can be taken if necessary, assuming it is safe to do so with your medical background.
What is the likelihood of developing lumps or irregularities after the procedure?
When performed by a certified UroFill® provider, the risk of developing lumps or irregularities is minimal as our patented technique ensures that the hyaluronic acid conforms to your anatomy whether in the flaccid or erect state. While the appearance of uneven distribution or asymmetry is not uncommon at the start of the process, Our patented staged protocol, coupled with our sculpting and modelling technique ensures that these are smoothed over resulting in an even distribution of the hyaluronic acid and a smooth, natural appearance.
Will the results of UroFill® look natural?
Yes, UroFill® is designed to provide natural-looking results. With the help of your UroFill® provider, you should be able to accomplish almost any look you desire. The biophysical properties of the specific hyaluronic acid we use, placed in the correct anatomical space, closely resembles normal penile tissue. The UroFill® patented technique ensures that the enhanced girth integrates seamlessly with the penile tissue, ensuring a smooth, natural appearance and feel in both flaccid and erect states.
How many sessions will I need?
An average patient receives 18 to 24 syringes over 3 to 6 sessions for 3.8 to 4 cm average girth gains flaccid and 2 to 2.5 cm girth gains erect. The difference in thickness between erect and flaccid states is similar to that of your natural penile tissues. Your penile skin and the coverings of your erectile bodies become significantly thinner during erection. This is why penis enlargement or penis augmentation procedures performed after inducing an artificial erection having a much higher complication rate. Read more about the risks of these procedures performed by non-urologists and UroFill® providers here.
Can UroFill® be reversed?
Yes, if necessary, UroFill® can be reversed using hyaluronidase, an enzyme that dissolves hyaluronic acid. This ensures flexibility in the unlikely event that you are unsatisfied with your results or wish to make adjustments.
How does UroFill® compare to other penile enhancement techniques?
Unlike other enhancement techniques, such as fat transfer, silicone implants or suspensory ligament division, UroFill® offers a minimally invasive, reversible, and safe option with natural-looking results that increases girth and flaccid length. It avoids the risks of disfigurement, scarring, and serious complications associated with these cosmetic surgical methods. Read more about UroFill® provides superior results to imitator hyaluronic acid techniques performed by non-urologists here.
Can UroFill® help with Peyronie’s disease?
Yes, UroFill® can be used to smooth irregularities caused by Peyronie’s disease and improve both the functional and cosmetic appearance of the penis. It is an effective non-surgical option for men with this condition. Learn more about the benefits of using UroFill® as a non-surgical treatment for Peyronie's disease here.
Can UroFill® be used with penile implants?

Is UroFill® covered by medicare or private health insurance?
No, UroFill® is a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by medicare or insurance. However, pricing per unit of Hyaluronic acid used is reduced the more units you buy. See UroFill® cost page for more details.
Does UroFill® have any long-term risks?
No, UroFill® has been shown to be a safe procedure without any long-term risks documented in more than 10 years since its conception. The hyaluronic acid used in the procedure is naturally absorbed by the body over time, and any minor side effects, such as swelling or bruising, typically resolve within a few days.
How soon will I see results after UroFill®?
Results are typically visible immediately after the procedure, though mild swelling may affect the appearance for the first few days and the ample use of local anaesthetic gives the initial appearance of more. Once the swelling subsides, you will see the full effect of the enhancement. This one of the reasons why UroFill® is staged - this is not a 'load and go' job, your satisfaction with the long-term outcome are paramount.
How often will I need touch-up sessions?
While UroFill® results are long-lasting, some patients opt for touch-up sessions to maintain or enhance their results. The need for additional sessions depends on individual preferences and how your body metabolises the hyaluronic acid.
What happens if I don’t like the results of UroFill®?
In the unlikely event that you are not satisfied with your UroFill® results, the procedure is fully reversible. Hyaluronic acid, the filler used in UroFill®, can be safely dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This allows for precise adjustments or complete reversal of the enhancement if desired. However, it's important to remember that you, the patient, are in control of the process and your final outcome—we are simply the artists shaping your vision. Throughout your journey, open discussions are encouraged, and most concerns can be resolved through sculpting, modeling, bolstering or optimising penile health through other urology-specific advice or intervention. In effect, UroFill® is a one-stop shop for your penis and our tailored approach ensures that adjustments can be made to meet your individual goals.
What is hyaluronic acid, and why is it used in UroFill®?
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance in the body that retains moisture and adds volume to tissues. In UroFill®, it is used because of its unique ability to integrate naturally with penile tissue, providing a safe and effective way to increase girth without affecting sensitivity or function. Read more about how we select only the best products for your penis here.
Is there a chance that my body could reject the hyaluronic acid used in UroFill®?
No, there is an extremely low risk that your body would reject the hyaluronic acid (HA) used in UroFill®, as HA is a naturally occurring substance in the human body. This biocompatibility ensures a safe and effective treatment. While rare cases of "late-onset inflammation" have been reported in other cosmetic procedures using HA, these are not common and often difficult to directly link to the HA itself. In our 10 years of collecting clinical data on UroFill®, we have not encountered such reactions. This may be due to our use of high-quality, medically-approved products and adherence to proper injection techniques, minimizing the risk of complications.
